Firefox 10 is now available for download. Since we already know the UI uplift of the browser will begin with version 12, most things are under the hood this time around. Among other things it adds a disappearing forward button, which only appears once you have used the back button. Now for the less important stuff, you get a code inspector baked into Firefox akin to webkit’s “Inspect Element” and Microsoft’s “Developer Tools”.  Keep reading past the break to see the working of the developers tools.

Mozilla has returned with yet another update for Firefox web browser and this time we do have something to cheer about. Firefox 9 comes with a speedier JavaScript engine that makes its script processing 30% faster in benchmarks. This new JavaScript trickery is being labeled as Type Inference. Another major improvement is the addition of “ two finger swipe navigation ” in Mac OS X Lion. Also the theme integration for Mac OS X has been improved. Head on past the break for the download links.

Firefox 8

Its yet another update for your favorite Firefox browser. Mozilla is here, yet again, with some not so exciting features because of its Rapid Release Strategy(a new version in every 6 weeks).  It seems like they are focusing more on release date than the product itself. So here’s a rundown of its “new” features.

Gotta have some Tab Candy: Firefox glamorizes itself with a new tab management feature and me like it !

July 26th, 2010 at 2:14 PM | Misc.

Back in the old days, when Firefox wasn’t born and Internet Explorer really ruled the browser market after killing Netscape, tabs came about to change the way we accessed the internet. Today though, tabs are as common as Apple fanboys, and they can be just as troublesome, when in large numbers. To help us through this ordeal, Mozilla has come up with the sweet sounding Tab Candy.

Firefox Tab Candy is a new tab management feature for Firefox that organizes tabs into groups to help you keep your tabs grouped by task. Not only does it offer incredibly handy features, but it looks beautiful.

Its coming Firefox 4: fast, powerful, and empowering

June 29th, 2010 at 7:03 AM | Misc.

Firefox 4 is currently baking in the oven, it seems it would bring about significant changes to the Open Source web browser. If you have updated to the latest stable release you might have noted the crash protection against plugins like Flash, Quicktime etc (which is already present in chrome). What we would like to see in Firefox 4 are as follows:

  1. Separate process for each tab(aka Sandbox architecture).
  2. A cleaner, smoother interface, memory optimization.
  3. Faster text loading, image load buffering.
  4. Built in Download Accelerator.
  5. Built-in ftp client module.

Let’s see when the final version materializes. We would most definitely be waiting, till then I will make do with Chrome !
