Gotta have some Tab Candy: Firefox glamorizes itself with a new tab management feature and me like it !

July 26th, 2010 at 2:14 PM | Misc.

Back in the old days, when Firefox wasn’t born and Internet Explorer really ruled the browser market after killing Netscape, tabs came about to change the way we accessed the internet. Today though, tabs are as common as Apple fanboys, and they can be just as troublesome, when in large numbers. To help us through this ordeal, Mozilla has come up with the sweet sounding Tab Candy.

Firefox Tab Candy is a new tab management feature for Firefox that organizes tabs into groups to help you keep your tabs grouped by task. Not only does it offer incredibly handy features, but it looks beautiful.

Firefox 4.0 finally hit public beta a few days back, we have been using this browser for the last few days to check its compatibility and other features. To tell the truth, we are a bit disappointed . Though the UI improvements are obvious as are they so in-your-face when compared to the previous (3.6) versions. Indeed, there are certain features that we do admire. Go ahead and read the entire first hands on the Firefox 4.0 Beta 1 and decide for yourself, download link at the end.

Improved User Interface

Its coming Firefox 4: fast, powerful, and empowering

June 29th, 2010 at 7:03 AM | Misc.

Firefox 4 is currently baking in the oven, it seems it would bring about significant changes to the Open Source web browser. If you have updated to the latest stable release you might have noted the crash protection against plugins like Flash, Quicktime etc (which is already present in chrome). What we would like to see in Firefox 4 are as follows:

  1. Separate process for each tab(aka Sandbox architecture).
  2. A cleaner, smoother interface, memory optimization.
  3. Faster text loading, image load buffering.
  4. Built in Download Accelerator.
  5. Built-in ftp client module.

Let’s see when the final version materializes. We would most definitely be waiting, till then I will make do with Chrome !
