Windows 8 gets a new logo, its back to basics for Microsoft.

Microsoft revealed the new logo for Windows 8 ahead of its consumer preview event to be held on 29th, February. Whether you call it redefined, dull or simply boring its the first time a logo re-design has generated such a huge reaction from the blogosphere as well as the general public. More after the break.

Facebook files for $5 Billion IPO

After months of speculation, Facebook has filed Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission as Facebook Inc. Although, an IPO was inevitable Facebook wasn’t under much pressure to release it just yet. The IPO reveals several numbers regarding the valuation of the company which is slated at around $100 Billion as well as current and previous earnings. Firefox 10 now available for download, has a disappearing act in-store for you.

Firefox 10 is now available for download. Since we already know the UI uplift of the browser will begin with version 12, most things are under the hood this time around. Among other things it adds a disappearing forward button, which only appears once you have used the back button. Now for the less important stuff, you get a code inspector baked into Firefox akin to webkit’s “Inspect Element” and Microsoft’s “Developer Tools”.  Keep reading past the break to see the working of the developers tools.

Microsoft unveils technical preview of Office 15, calls it the most ambitious undertaking by the Office division.

Microsoft unveiled the technical preview for Office 15, and before we could even say “Metro” it got filled up. There aren’t many details about the product, but it is being dubbed as the most ambitious take my Microsoft’s office division. 

Firefox’s new-tab and default home page to get some much deserved love from Mozilla.

Mozilla has been on a record run with Firefox’s new releases currently numbered at 6 with the release of Firefox 9 withing a period of  9 months. Although much of the UI has been overhauled from version 3.6, the default home page and new-tab page have remained pretty much unchanged. AMD unveils Radeon HD 7970, the “Fastest Single-GPU graphics card on the planet”

AMD tired of playing catch-up with Intel on processors, will enter memory manufacturing.

Its no wonder that AMD is planning to enter the uncharted territory of memory manufacturing after the humongous failure of the new FX series. In a press release AMD has confirmed that it has decided to enter the DRAM manufacturing market with the help of Patriot Memory and VisionTek, who will infact manufacture the memory modules of 2GB, 4GB and 8GB according to AMD’s specifications.
