RIM rebrands itself as BlackBerry

So today is BlackBerry 10 official launch. The first order of business Thorsten Heins, CEO of RIM (Research In Motion), started the conference with was that the Canadian company will adopt its product name, “BlackBerry” as the name of the company. All the products and services offered by RIM will now be made available under the ‘BlackBerry’ moniker. Its understandable for a company that is trying to reinvigorate itself to rename itself with the most recognizable brand name it has to offer.

The company will now be known as “Blackberry” the world over. BlackBerry will retain its existing logo, but the company will be synonymous with this brand and the Research In Motion name will no longer be in use. The formal announcement of the name change was accompanied by a banner bearing the Blackberry logo and name with the message “One brand. One promise.” RIM is also changing its stock symbols to reflect the change, it will now be listed under BBRY on NASDAQ, and BB on TSX.
