Microsoft has finally announced the price of its Surface tablet with Windows RT. Sadly, the starting price tag is $499 for the 32 GB model without touch cover. The 32 GB model with black touch cover costs $599. You can also buy the Surface Touch Cover in your favorite color from an assorted list and Surface Touch Type(keys with greater travel) addons for $119.99 and $129.99 respectively. If we move up the line, there’s the 64 GB model with Black Touch Cover for $699. If truth be told, we are not happy with these asking prices from Microsoft. This makes the Surface tablet a premium product which would not be able to compete with many android tablets. But if you look at it closely Microsoft is not gunning for Android but Apple’s iPad. The base pricing of the 16 GB iPad is same as the entry level 32 GB Surface with Windows RT, so double the storage for the same price. Moving up the order things are pretty much same for the iPad and Surface. Only time will tell if Microsoft’s expectations with the Surface are met. Surface with Windows RT tablets are now available for pre-order from Micorosft Store and will be available in stores from 26th October onward.
