According to the Polish patent office, Apple has filed an official complaint, accusing A.pl of copying one of Apple’s icons to its logo and using this as a means to get more customers. Talk about Apples and Oranges. The logo in question, shown above, is being used by one of the subsidiaries of A.pl, Fresh24.pl. More ridiculousness continued.
Patent office spokesman Adam Taukert said that
Apple brand is widely recognized and the company says that A.pl, by using the name that sounds similar, is using Apple’s reputation.
So, this is the deal. The iPhone maker is concerned that the online grocery store is using Apple’s famous name and image to possibly attract customers to its website, who, thinking they were going to buy a 32GB iPad, end up purchasing a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables or something to that effect. A.pl chief executive Radoslaw Celinski said that “The accusation is ludicrous”. We have to agree here.
Either Apple has too much money in its coffers, which we know it has, or they have just lost it. Even Apple Fanboys disagreed with the way Apple handled the case with Samsung. With such frivolous lawsuits, Apple is just ruining its reputation.
