Microsoft tightens the noose on Windows RT OEM’s, only permitted may make tablets.

Economic Times of China has reported that Microsoft has selected only a few companies that will be able to make tablets for the Windows RT platform. The report suggests that Microsoft has asked chipmakers Qualcomm, TI and NVIDIA to select the OEM’s that will unveil Microsoft’s foray into the tablet world. It continues to say that NVIDIA has chosen ASUS and Lenovo, Qualcomm has brought Samsung to the table while TI has brought Toshiba along for the ride. Dell is also in contention since HP dropped out of the race saying it wants to concentrate on its x86 efforts. These tablets would be available by October 26th while Microsoft may decide to allow other manufacturers to get into the business, come January.
