Google has come through with its official release of Chromebooks from partners Samsung and Acer. The WiFi-only and 3G variants of the new Acer Chromia and Samsung Series 5 Chromebooks are available to order online by US customers from Amazon and, starting at $379.99 and $429.99, respectively.

The Series 5 features a 1.66GHz dual-core Intel Atom N570 processor, 2GB RAM and a 16GB SSD as well as as a card reader, Bluetooth, webcam and 12.1in 1280×800 resolution screen.

Though there is mass speculation about these “thin clients” with Google’s much advertised “Nothing but the Web” campaign. Some nifty features include its almost instantaneous boot, cloud syncing of your data and hardware encryption. The only qualm being lack of local storage.

So, are you ready to live in the cloud ? If yes, then jump right in and get your own taste of Google’s Chrome OS.
