Scott Thompson, who was appointed, January 4th, as the CEO of Yahoo has stepped into a you know what. Word on the street is that after weeks of investigation he will be stepping down. The news was broken by All Things D, where it was reported that Scott Thompson’s official Yahoo bio listing showed a computer science degree that he allegedly didn’t even have. The official word from Yahoo is that he is going away for “Personal Reasons”. Yahoo’s global media head Ross Levinsohn will be filling Scott’s shoes for now, but there’s no news on a final replacement. At present though, it seems there are dark days ahead for Yahoo.

Sony Corp. financials are down the drain. The once mighty empire reported a record annual loss of 457 billion yen ($5.7 billion) in its fourth straight year of red ink. Panasonic’s yearly earnings are in as well and the red ink added up to a record $9.7 billion net loss for 2011. The losses are not just due to dwindling sales but a combination of strong yen eating into overseas sales, flooding in Thailand that disrupted supply chains, and the lingering effects from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. With over 1 Billion downloads from the Angry Birds franchise, Rovio is finally setting its sight on the future. Having acquired Casey’s Contraptions from its makers Mystery Coconut and Snappy Touch, the new game Amazing Alex may just be a rebrand rather than an original game. All these Envy branded ultrabooks and sleekbooks feature Beats Audio, HP CoolSense technology which automatically adjusts performance and internal fan settings for a noticeably cooler PC alongwith HP Imagepad which allows multifinger touch and gesture navigation. One of the things showcased at the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S III was a beautiful Android version of the burgeoning social network and feed reader, Flipboard. For the time being it seemed that we would have to wait for the official release of the app, but the tenacious folks over at XDA-developers, especially someone with the alias Valcho has made the impossible possible. Here we are with the version 0.7.17 of the Flipboard android app available for all. At present we don’t know about Froyo compatibility, however Gingerbread and of course ICS is supported. One more thing, if you want the widget as well install the app in phone memory. So head on over to xda-developers to download the app to see it in all its glory.
